Accent on Horse'
By Kyle Oakeson
I’m told my pick of horses is really quite terrible
I bet on the ones that look the most dressed
Not the one that will actually win.
I’ve trained horse after horse and let a lot go
And as soon as they’re sold, they win tourney elsewhere
I’m so happy for what they’ve become.
I suppose my problem is the sport I compete
And the horses aren’t the type that succeed
They’d do better in something I hate.
See I gave up showing and circus as well
Too much show, too gaudy and dull
And took up polo, majestic and all!
Because when you learn how the magic really works in those shows
Your clown face turns to painted frown
And you high tail your horse straight home
You return to your loved ones so high up in class
And beg forgiveness for running away
And your hate for the circus is born.
You despise the fact that you know what you know
And you hate that it’s all just a trick
To get you to escape from your life
Me? I turned to polo, the gentleman’s sport
My family totally agrees
It suits me to have it that way
But the horses I’m so used to working with
The ones that’re so fun to train
Aren’t suited for gentleman’s ways
They’re superior show horses
Arabian wilds
But they won’t get me anywhere on the field.

What is truth?
What is truth?
By Kyle Oakeson
Do endorsements make professionals
Or the amount that they get paid?
Is it because he claimed he was one
Or is experience in his ways?
Does he cast his spell upon you and you simply think he’s right?
Perhaps he can back it up too, does his success make him qualified?
Or can failure do it to; surely he knows what not to do?
Is it the paper he hangs on the wall that cost him several grand?
Is it because the government put license in his hand?
Or is it because his words can move you to believe,
Could he be a natural, did fate give him these skills?
Or will he have to prove them still
And get credentials like everybody else?
Does confidence make him succeed,
Or did success make him confident?
What of the artist who truly paints with skill,
Is it always because of practice, or from talents up above?
Does eternal truth grant him success?
Or does popular vote give him his credence?
Does it matter where he gets it from, if you think deep down it’s right?
