1st crumby poem of 2010

Icky feelings
By Kyle Oakeson

Make you wanna barf, make you wanna scream
Make you wanna bust a cap and run like a thief
They’ll upset you, They’ll attack you
They aren’t worth it if you’ve got ‘em

Swimmin’ like a fish in dirty water
Breathin’ dirty air in your own little bubble
Pop it like it’s soap, You burst like a joke
Now you’re choking on the sickness…

But you hold it inside; with both your arms
On the bugs in your stomach.
And now you’re shaking not from fear
Shaking cause it hurts to hold inside

What is it about this?
Drowning on your own
Icky Feelings.

Intro

The following are poems that I wrote a few years ago and are the only ones that I presently have access to in a digital file. There are many others that I have written but they are only in physical form or are hidden away at this time.

I haven't had the time to proofread any of these.--there's a good chance that I don't agree or believe some of the things that I've written previously and so I hope anyone who reads this won't take my works into consideration when they judge me as a person.

Thank you for reading. I enjoy your comments and spelling errors and what have you (though some things are mispelled on purpose).
Enjoy!

What you've lost

What you’ve lost
By Kyle Oakeson

Sure, that’s what they all say!
You’d better be careful,
before someone takes that away.

He could take it from you
in a blink of an eye;
you’d think you liked it too.

But when it’s gone you know
he tricked you hard,
and you have no where to go.

Your something turns to nothing
worth nothing anymore
and still you hide it’s missing
Gone right out the door.

And then you change;
you’re not who you used to be
Friends you loose and more you gain
but the thing you lost is gone for good,
you’ve tried to take it back,
but others you have taken from
and they too want theirs back.

It’s a never ending cycle
in which you think you’ve won
because you have so many
yet you don’t even have your own.

You sure aren’t happy
at all the results,
but you’ve changed now,
even when it really hurts.

What a drive you been on,
deep down under town.
Where neon blurs
and slurs misstep
You tumble cobblestone

In reality, think logically
What are you missing?
Is it youth’s first innocence,
or life’s abandonment?

If you count me of your friends I’ll tell,
true and honestly.
That what you’ve lost is what he took,
and then you took it from them.

I see why you are so sad now,
when you’ve gone and done all that

Truth

Truth
By Kyle Oakeson

Yes is yes
No is no
Everything is Everything
Nothing is Nothing
This is this
That is That
What’s wrong is wrong
What’s right is right
Truth is Truth
Don’t ever change that
Because
Up is Up
Down is Down
Left isn’t right
unless right is wrong
Left is Left!
Don’t ever change that
Because whatever’s left
might be nothing at all
and nothing
is nothing
worth nothing
at all.

Three little lies

Three little lies
by Kyle Oakeson

People speak in many ways
with their mouths
their actions
and ever so subtly
I’ve come attune
to all three ways
and can tell what they say
when I pay attention

And when she said she loved me
in her mouth I knew
how ironic it was that
her actions said not
and her subtle confessed
she was lying
Well goodbye is all I can say now
to her and everyone else

The world turned its back on me
and I have no one else
I’m lost and alone
You could say I like it that way
but if it came from my mouth
I’d be lying twice
And no matter how much I hate it
I’m stuck out here

No one’s attempted
a rescue mission
and no one cares
because they never missed me
They were too worried
that I could hear their thoughts
when really all I did
was read their words

Take my word for it
if anyone decides
that it’s better to be alone
well I doubt it
just deal with the bad
and embrace the good
cause bad comes more often
than good ever did.

I know. I do.
I’m only lying once.

Those who give

Those who give
By Kyle Oakeson

There are those
with broken hearts
it really shows

There are men
with trampled hearts
so cold within

There are women
with bitter hearts
they ban every man

yet there are those
the fairest of fair
who don’t care
and spread and share
their heart out wide
taking every chide
and yet still care
they love unaware
of the hate others bear
who curl up in tears

The Other Day

The Other Day
By Kyle Oakeson

Sunshine waved to me in the hall,
Putting me out of my cumbersome thoughts.
For a moment, relief, that I wished to stall
But I am still living with one chief regret:
Chance happens every now and again.
When opportunity rises to grip a moment
And hold it forever as a win,
for recollection at anytime with enjoyment.

I’m not one to have failed in my life before,
I’ve had great luck with chance,
And success doesn’t love, it adores
Me and my mastering skill and intelligence.
But I failed to wave back at her friendly gesture,
I guess I was lost in her breeze-bound hair,
her covetous eyes, and her handsome vesture;
Her immaculate face was simply more than could bear.

And yet taking it all in
I’m forced to accept my defeat.
She has beaten me to the win,
Her rays simply transferred to heat.
But I shall rise another day, with thoughts to take over again,
Not grab, but hug, the blazing sun in my arms
And taste her cool, loving smile with passion;
I know already she’s attached to my charms,

It’s only right that we both are united.

The Detective/Warning of the Detective/What he hears

(I)
The Detective
By Kyle Oakeson

He is one to listen in on the tales,
Which spread like wildfire through hills,
That no man ought to tread on, for fear, of death,

On these charred forsaken hills,
The Detective hears the news
And forms a perception of the troubles of the earth.

He has detected, he has the contemplation,
But what he’s found is so pathetic:
It’s a sad, mad, fake world.

(II)
Warning of the Detective.
By Kyle Oakeson

You might ask, what the detective hears
But I must tell you it’s more than you can stomach
It’s more than anyone should

Once you know, you can’t go back,
No matter how hard you try or want to,
We all wish we simply could.

The truth is, when you want to know,
You figure it out. And it hurts so bad,
That you’d wish you were an ignorant fool, instead of an informed idiot.

(III)
What he hears
By Kyle Oakeson

All around us now are troubles,
That no one can do anything about
Alone. And all odds seem against those who try.

Compassion is lost on earth,
Beauty has gone down with it.
Hope and faith have since died.

And what is there to show of it?
Tears. All they care about are tears.
They want us to cry, that’s the only thing.

(IV)
He hears more
By Kyle Oakeson

They want to be better than everyone else,
It wants us to cause our own torment.
It wants us to be selfish.

But the one thing the detective detected on this,
Is that everyone will go through it and fail,
And only a few will rise up and wish.

They are they who are strong,
Out of this world, but apart of it.
And of them they are but a handful.

Potter

Potter
By Kyle Oakeson

The dog at my heels
black coat full of curls
sleeps on the carpet
I love that pet
I wish I could join him,
sleeping all day
and cuddling at my feet
wouldn’t that be neat?
But no, I must finish my studies
because they say,
a grown man must learn
or he can never earn
what it takes to live.

Peace

Peace
By Kyle Oakeson

Too many people spend their time trying
To figure out the meaning of plain things
That don’t have importance and are buying
Into things that won’t help them in making
It big or help the world become better
They’d rather think of insignificance
And it soon ends them up in a fetter
Trapped to continue due to ignorance
They’re caught on themselves, too proud to admit
And change their ways so they just stay that way
They would rather grimp and gripe about it
And so regardless they won’t let me say:
Give up yourselves and care for the greater
Good, and let us all just work together

On My Mind

On my mind
By Kyle Oakeson

I look at your face and I nearly cry
I see you all the time as it passes by
These feelings happen t’me when alone
Reminds me of love that wasn’t my own.

In the future my life changed and I’ll grow up a lot
But there will be one thing inside me, a beating spot
It will pump the blood through my body inside
And each time it beats I’ll shrink and hide

My past had little regret but plenty of sorrow
You racked me and pulled out your harrow
And the scars on my back are still there
They forced me to hunch over everywhere

Now I’m just thinking of what I’ll become
And wonder if it is all cause of something I’ve done
When a girl says she wants your heart
And you give her a part

And she reaches inside you to rip the rest out,
Cause she was insulted; about to pout.
And you merely say that you gave her it all,
And thought she’d give back part of the whole.

But that’s not her intention.
She wouldn’t have mentioned.
She fell in sights with you,
And gave you abuse too.

And you took it for love.

Mediocrity

Mediocrity
By Kyle OAkeson

In a city full of people
Where everything’s so simple
And no one cares about nothing
Except working towards something
That everyone they know has had
And they all want it now, and bad
But everyone is so much the same
And it is getting really lame
Because of their mediocrity
It’s knocking down their very city
And makes it all worthless to look at
So they make such a mess of it
by wanting to be the same as everyone else
When they should just be like themselves

Lock and Key

Lock and Key
By Kyle Oakeson

Some things ought to be locked for protection,
Which is why I’m locking myself.
I entrust you with the key, so don’t let me down.
And if you want to keep me for yourself,
All the better, just don’t give it back.
And if you don’t want the key,
Just keep a hold of it for me
Till someone comes along
Who you would trust it with
For me.

Learned

Learned
By Kyle Oakeson

I saw the sun
It crept along
High in the sky
where the birds all fly
and I alone
Sit at my home
Happy for the day

When I was young I was the son
I might not’ve been the best of one
but I learned the most important thing
that a boy should learn before he grows into a man

I saw the sun
It crept along
High in the sky,
Where I could fly
I alone
Sit on the porch
strum my guitar
and sing these words

I keep my head way up high
I take a walk around the town
People must think I am fly
And some day I will rise the sky

I saw the sun
it crept along
The time goes by
I’m so relaxed
I know the facts
that make the glad
I’ve learned to always be happy for my life.

Knight

Knight
By Kyle Oakeson

At the local tourney
I saw of them three
Maidens so fine
I just wanted one mine

One worked at a brothel
Another was simply a fail
The third was a priest's daughter
and she simply wouldn't bother

I offered to ride
and they could confide
but of the three
they all declined me

At the local tourney
I saw of them three
Maidens of yon
who lost love of tournament champion

And were irked about it
and put up a fit
when I rode away
One day.

I'm Sure You're Aware that I'm Abusive

I’m sure you’re aware that I’m abusive…
By Kyle Oakeson

By now it is evident, I don’t care about you
What did remain of my friendship and love
I retract such as a disobedient dog
doesn’t deserve a treat for biting my hand.

You can snap and lash out, till the end of your chain,
but remember that I am the one that you came
to in love coveting friendship.
Who cares about you? Should I, Shouldn’t you?

I’m sick of this town, and I’m moving on.
It’s time I take my belongings and be gone.
Take it from me, don’t waste your time
I’m sure you’re aware that I’m abusive.

So knock off and let alone.
It’s time I just leave everything
move on
and be done.

King Kyle's Deed

King Kyle’s Deed
By Kyle Oakeson

There’s a tale to be told
Of the brave and the bold
And to speak of the sights that they saw

The brilliance brought forth
From the forests and earth
Ere the elements used for their good

The future was forlorn
And the air was well worn
When people were poorly prepared

But to speak of such wisdom
With work to weld kingdoms
King Kyle cleaned up all the mess.

I Do Not Look for Perfection

I do not look for perfection
By Kyle Oakeson

I do not look for perfection,
I look for the potential to become it.
And then I give a kick in the right direction
To turn over the engine and start it up running.
Many a time my looks aren’t accurate
And my quest’s plot thickens
As I go out searching again.

I Believe you Wanted some Help?

I believe you wanted some help?
By Kyle Oakeson

Sit on your stool
Lean back, be cool.
Listen to the music
And pick up a topic
To talk with your friendly’s,
Maybe meet a few new ladies.

Just relax, understand,
Feel the beat that’s across the land

And when you look up—
You should always look up,
Cause nobody does anymore
They hang it down to the floor.—
Feel the pride in your soul,
One day…it’ll make you whole.

Show your confidence with style,
Turn their heads all the while.

I could teach you attraction,
Make it into a function,
Like the quills of a peacock,
Spread out in a flock,
Competing all the same,
But I’d give you your game.

Learn all you can from me,
This’s how we should all be.

I just want to help you,
Teach you to be true.
If only you knew—
I’ve gone through and through
To find out what I know,
And spread it wherever I go.

Frequency

Frequency
By Kyle Oakeson

I’m friends with this girl
She’s quite a big deal.
But she’s not mine,
I wish she was.

She’s in my head,
While I’m in bed,
Trying to sleep
Through the night.

We’re just friends
That’s where it ends;
At least I think so,
I may be wrong.

Though I see her often
And I know there’s somethin’
Between her and I
I just can’t tell.

So if you see the girl,
Give her this mail:
That I want her heart to beat
In frequency with mine.

Firstlings

Firstlings
By Kyle Oakeson

The first flower this spring
was a daffodil.
and I passed it on the way to the garage
So bright and yellow
yet hidden in the corner of the house.

Everything, but nothing

Everything, but nothing.
By Kyle Oakeson

I can’t help it,
I go from wanting nothing
To wanting everything
And then realize how bad
Everything is
And simply want nothing again.

Danger! Don't pet the lion

Danger! Don’t pet the lion
By Kyle Oakeson

I find myself now shackled in tight chains;
thought focused on all my many sad pains.
but why, you ask, am I here tied up in fetters?
I’ll tell you my problem with this letter.
I’m scared of myself, of what I could do;
and of the people I know, there’s so few
who I think that could stop me once I start.
Even then, for them I’m too much a part.
I am a dangerously fierce creature.
It appears that is my only feature.
I’m a savage animal, at so late,
even though you tried to domesticate,
you can’t tame a lion, too late, I’ve tried
it is just better to leave lions tied.

Creative Portrayal

Creative Portrayal
By Kyle Oakeson

What can I write,
You don’t already know?
I can go over what’s said,
But someone’s said it all.
Little is new,
When it’s said the first time.
And a lot of what’s spoken,
Wasn’t originally mine.

I admit it!
I copied it all,
And when you thought it was new,
It was me creatively portraying it.
Who can write now,
When I’m right when I say it.
That nothing is ever original,
It’s just spoken different.

Catch

Catch
By Kyle Oakeson

So far as I assume
This girl looks out for me
To catch me at my best
She wants to be with me

The thing I’d like the most
Is to catch her by the waist
In my arms touch her soft
And kiss her lips gently

Each time I catch her sight
Is staring in my eyes
I feel her thoughts comply
With ones I also think

But as it still remains
We’re simply friends right now
My thoughts say to be more
I think she would agree

Aspirations

Aspirations
By Kyle Oakeson

My sights are focused so high
that most mortals will never walk
on where my arrow flies;
and I to achieve my mark
have a hawk’s eye to see the spot,
and how to angle my shot
so the point I pick I will hit,
and the pathway I choose to attempt
the arrow will follow and land in just right.
In my head it has merit
my heart well agrees
that the plan if I bear it
will lead me with ease
to the site that I seek
at the top of the peak
where mortals made glorious
gather together to take on pure happiness

A line is Just a Line

A line is just a line
By Kyle Oakeson

A word is just a word when it isn't in a line,
And a line is just a line, when it isn't in a poem.
You’re best feature, my friend,
Is the poem; not the line or the word.
